At Dewars Centre Wednesday 25th October 18.30-20.30.
Fancy the best seat in the house at a curling championship? Fancy learning a skill that can take you to championships around the world? Timing is for you! This course is free. Many championships involve allocated “thinking time” per team, per game. This training course provides an introduction to the responsibilities and ethics of being a time clock operator (TCO). Plenty of opportunity to put your training into practice at Le Gruyère AOP European Championships in Perth (and Aberdeen) in mid November.
The aim of the course is to produce capable and competent TCOs and is delivered over a couple of hours. The course is suitable for those who wish to make a start in becoming an umpire, or who simply want to learn a skill required for the running of championship curling. The course is classroom based and includes a theory and practical session. The theory will include an explanation about the equipment and software involved in timing and how it is used, rules of the game when time clocks are involved and video to demonstrate how the rules are applied. The practical element will include experience of timing using a real-time video of a two-end game, problem prevention and troubleshooting.
