The Perth Open was held over the weekend of 11th Dec to 13th Dec and saw just 6 teams slug it out for the quite magnificent Perth Open Trophy. This year saw the event take place over one weekend and use a Schenkel league to decide the finalists. By the last round of games on Sunday morning I think every team had some way to get to the final, even if some of them were a little more fanciful routes than others.
In the end there were two clear teams at the top of the league and Alan Chalmers team of, cough, experienced, cough, curlers faced off against the young hot shots Skipped by Callum Kinnear and his Under 17's team (with a guest appearence in game two from Robin "runback" Brydone.
The final was well competed for but Team Kinnear always had the upper hand and did not let Alan and his team back in the game once they got ahead. Team Kinnear are well deserved winners of this years Perth Open playing really steady throughout the competition.
Team Kinnear are: Calum Kinnear; Duncan McFadzean; Ryan McCormack and Matthew McKenzie.
Thanks to all the teams who made it a great wekeend of curling with some really enjoyable games.
